What is a self-propelled feed mixer?

A self-propelled feed mixer is a feed wagon with its own engine, cab and drive system. The machine can load, mix and dispense feed independently.

Unlike a towed feed mixer, no tractor is required. The machine drives to the silage pit, mills the feed, transports it to the mixing tank and then distributes it to the feed fence.

This makes the feeding process faster, more efficient and less labour-intensive.

Key features

  • Loading, mixing and feeding with a single machine
  • Fewer tractor hours
  • Lower fuel costs
  • Consistent mixing quality
  • More efficient daily feeding

Why choose a self-propelled feed mixer?

Feeding livestock is a daily task that can be very time-consuming. A self-propelled feed mixer optimises this process and increases efficiency on the farm.

Fewer machines required

A self-propelled feed mixer combines multiple functions in a single machine. This means fewer vehicles are required on the farm.

Faster feeding

Thanks to the integrated loading cutter, feed can be loaded and mixed directly from the silage pit. This significantly reduces feeding time.

Accurate rations

Modern weighing systems ensure that each ration can be composed exactly. This prevents waste and ensures a stable feed composition.

More comfort for the driver

A comfortable cab, good all-round visibility and intuitive controls make feeding less stressful.

Important components of a self-propelled feed mixer

A modern self-propelled feed mixer consists of various systems that work together to ensure an efficient feeding process.

Loading cutter

The cutter neatly cuts the feed from the silage wall and transports it to the mixing tank. This keeps the silage wall tight and preserves the quality of the feed.

Mixing system

Vertical or horizontal mixing augers ensure a homogeneously mixed ration. This reduces the animals’ ability to select food.

Weighing system

Digital weighing systems make it possible to load and feed exactly according to the ration.

Cab and controls

The cab is designed for comfort and visibility. Modern controls make loading and feeding easy and accurate.
