Better mixing starts with the right auger

In dairy farming, everything revolves around efficiency. A well-balanced ration ensures healthy animals, higher feed intake and ultimately more milk in the tank. But even the best ration won’t deliver the desired result if it isn’t mixed correctly. That’s why Peecon doesn’t opt for a standard solution.
While many feed mixer wagons work with one type of auger for all applications, Peecon offers various auger constructions specifically tailored to the farmer’s ration.
Whether you work with a lot of maize, long fibre-rich products, dry components or compact rations: Peecon feed mixer wagons are always tailored to the farmer’s wishes. Every machine is built as a custom solution, with attention to capacity, ease of use, durability and mixing quality. This combination of customisation, high quality and well-thought-out technology makes Peecon distinctive.
One of the most characteristic components is the auger. The auger largely determines how the feed is cut, mixed and moved in the tub. And precisely because no two rations are the same, Peecon offers multiple auger types, each with its own application.
This way, there is always a solution that suits the ration and the way of working on the farm. A well-mixed ration ensures more calm at the feed fence, more consistent intake and a better end result in the barn. Because the better the ration is tailored and mixed, the better the animals utilise it.
Better mixing = better ration = more milk.
Four auger types, matched to every ration
Peecon offers four different auger designs, each developed for a specific type of ration and application.
The hay auger, also referred to as the standard auger, is designed for high-fibre rations with a medium bulk density. Its gradually tapering shape moves the feed upward step by step, resulting in intensive mixing and consistent cutting performance. This auger is ideally suited for rations containing maize silage, chopped grass, pre-wilted grass, hay and other fibrous feed components where a homogeneous mix and preservation of fibre structure are essential.
The compact feed auger is designed for compact, finely chopped rations with a high bulk density. Its wide auger flights and coarse pitch move the feed upward quickly, ensuring smooth circulation of heavy rations. The wide knives extend to the tub wall, combining powerful cutting performance with intensive horizontal mixing. At the bottom, a scraper guides the feed from the outside towards the centre, allowing the entire ration to be processed quickly and evenly.
The bale auger is specially developed for processing long, fibrous materials such as round and square bales, grass, straw and hay. Its narrow auger flights allow the material to fall back alongside the auger, while the widely positioned knives repeatedly pick up and cut the material. The flat top prevents feed from remaining on the auger, enabling faster bale opening, efficient processing of long fibres and a homogeneous ration.
The Topliner auger is suitable for light to medium-density, high-fibre rations and can also efficiently process long feed components such as grass, hay and straw. Its straight, tall design provides intensive mixing and consistent cutting performance. The Topliner auger is fitted to Peecon Topliner mixer wagons, which are manufactured as a standard production range. This offers the same reliable mixing performance in a cost-effective concept.
Custom-made for the farmer
What truly sets Peecon apart is that we look beyond the machine itself. We look at the farm, the type of feed, the working method and the wishes of the farmer. Based on this, the feed mixer wagon is composed.
That means:
- Custom-made solutions
- Alignment with ration and farm management
- High-quality build quality
- Technology that suits daily practice
- A machine built for long-term use
A Peecon Biga feed mixer wagon is therefore not just a machine, but a well-considered investment in feed efficiency, operational reliability and performance.
